Born in September 1970, Mr. Nuhu Yakubu holds a certificate in Strategic Finance, from the Harvard Business School, M.Sc. Industrial Relations and Personnel Management, from the University of Lagos, B.Sc. Economics and Management Sciences, from Ambrose Alli University, and an alumnus of Immaculate Conception College, Benin city. He has attended many management, technical courses and seminars locally and internationally, including the Lagos Business School, University of Lagos, Texas A&M University – WEDA, GE Leadership at the Management Development Institute, Crotonville New York, amongst others.
He is the founder and Group Managing Director of Banner Energy Limited, a Gas & Power Infrastructure development and trading company; the operator of BannerGas, one of the largest networks of LPG distribution and retail trading Infrastructure in Nigeria, as well as the main promoter of the 13,000MT LPG coastal storage import/export terminal, the 500MW On-grid/off-grid electricity generation project in the Liberty Free Trade Zone at Ikot-Abasi, Akwa-Ibom state, Nigeria.
He is the Chairman of Amal Technologies Ltd, a tech start-up company founded to manufacture hardware, embedded systems, and other technological devices in Nigeria, with support of the NCDMB R&D start-up incubation initiative.
He’s currently the chairman of Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board’s NCCF Gas Value Chain Sectoral Working Group.
Mr. Yakubu is the past President of the Nigerian Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association – NLPGA. In his capacity as President in Council, he led industry discussions with key sector players to the formation of the LPG Joint Working Committee, where he co-chaired with Standards Organization of Nigeria, with other key industry regulators as members.
He served as member of the Oil and Gas Technical Working Group of Central Working Group for the Nigeria Agenda 2050 Medium Term National Development Plan (MTNDP) of the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. He served as Chairman, Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) Review sub-committee of Nigeria Liquefied Petroleum Gas Association (NLPGA), in a collaborative exercise with the Nigeria Gas Association (NGA).
He served as Deputy President of the South-East South-South Professionals of Nigeria, and currently serves as President of UNUEDO, an association of Edo Professionals in Nigeria and Diaspora.
His dynamism in business development, has earned him many recognitions including the “Nigeria’s Most Intelligent Entrepreneurs and an Outstanding Personality Award”, by the Guardian Newspaper Publications, March 14th 2001.
He enjoys reading, sporting, socializing and community services and he’s married with children.
